Every library at this address is meant to work with a keyboard, a screen reader or a phone held sideways, and most of it already does. This page says what is built in, what falls short for now, and how to ask for an alternative. There is one statement for the whole address as well.
What is built in
Every page has one heading structure, a skip link and visible focus. Equations are published three times over from one source: the drawn layer you see, a MathML twin a screen reader can walk through, and a plain-text line that copying yields. Every figure, animated ones included, carries a caption and an accessible name, and can be enlarged in a dialog a keyboard can open, close with Escape and return from. Animations respect your reduced-motion setting. The question practice works without a mouse, and the sketch box is optional: every question can be worked on paper and self-marked without it.
The three libraries
All three libraries carry the skip link, the heading structure, the visible focus and the reduced-motion behaviour described above, and all three draw their diagrams into the page with captions and accessible names. Two differences are worth knowing. The MathML twin and the plain-text copy of an equation exist on physics and maths pages and not on biology ones, which have no equations to give them to. And the control that enlarges a figure into a dialog is on physics pages only: on maths and biology pages a browser’s own zoom is the way to make a diagram bigger, which works but is not as good.
Known limitations
The printable workbook and card-pack PDFs are generated files and their internal tagging is not yet at the standard of the web pages; the same content is always available as ordinary HTML on the topic pages, which is the accessible route today. If a page, a figure or a download does not work with your setup, that is a defect rather than a policy, and we would like to know.
Another format, or a problem
Write to support@inkphysics.co.uk and say which page and what you need. Reports of anything unusable with a screen reader, keyboard or switch device get fixed with the same priority as a wrong answer.
