Trigonometry: identities and equations flashcards
7 cards drawn from 5 lessons: 3 standard results, 2 recall prompts and 2 spot-the-error cards. The identities you must produce unprompted, and the interval trap that eats marks. Rate each answer to set a shorter or longer interval before the card is due again.

How the five kinds differ
Standard results ask for a formula or value that may need to be recalled. Definitions ask for a mathematical term to be stated precisely. Recall prompts ask for a rule, condition or method. Check yourself cards contain a short question and answer. Spot the error cards ask you to correct an inaccurate claim.

- The other two Pythagorean identitiesResult
- cos 2θ, all three formsResult
- Small angle approximations, θ in radians onlyResult
- State how to find R and α in the harmonic formRecall
- State what to do with the interval when the equation contains 2xRecall
- The sine rule gives sin B = 0.6, so B = 36.9° and the triangle is settled.Spot the error
- sin 2θ is 2 sin θ.Spot the error
